Tests from The Lord come in many forms and in many areas. Some tests are obvious and some are mysteriously hidden. The Bible teaches that testing in our life comes so that the perseverance of our faith can be made complete ( James 1:2-4 ).
Testing also comes before and after promotion in The Kingdom. Over the last 12 years in my walk with The Lord I have noticed that one of the many ways The Lord will test someone before their own promotion through the successes and promotions of those around them.
If you can be happy and rejoice with those around you for their success when they pass their tests, and are promoted by The Lord, then I believe it shows The Lord that your heart is right in this area. And you in turn may be passing your test ( Do unto others as you would have them do unto you ).
Unfortunately not everyone wants to see you succeed. I’ve also learned that some are ok with a degree of favor and success in your life, but not everyone wants you to go as far as you are called to go. Some want you to stay where you are because it fits in their comfort zone.
Some people fail this test and become bitter and jealous. They begin to attack and criticize the person who has been promoted in order to make themselves feel better about their own insecurities. They self deceive themselves into believing that the promotion must have come through some selfish ambition or for selfish gain. This is a strong delusion. It is especially apparent when the accusations act in total opposition to what they have witnessed and seen with their own eyes. They have no idea the battles that you have fought. They have no clue of the price that YOU HAVE PAID and what it cost you to reach your promotion.
Don’t let the enemy deceive you.
If you ever find yourself grumbling or attacking someone whom The Lord has promoted, understand two things:
1. You might have just failed your own test
2. Repent wholeheartedly so that you can pass your test next time around the mountain
We all fall short of the glory of God and we each struggle in different areas. This is why we must guard our hearts and not be quick to judge others. For With the measure we use it will be measured to us. One person might struggle in this area, and we might struggle in another area. Let us show compassion and grace towards everyone.
Matthew 7:1-5
“Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.
The Lord is incredibly patient with us and is so gracious to allow us to retake the tests until we pass them. HalleluYah! Praise God for His incredible love and patience towards us.
Romans 12:9-18 ESV
Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.
